Part one: Troy
“.....and Paris fell in love with Helen, the daughter of Zeus. But she was married to the King of Sparta, Menalaus. When the King was on duty overseas, Paris seized the moment and abducted his love Helen to Troy, his home area.
Menalaus gathered all support he could and marched against Troy to claim back his wife
Amongst his supporters there were the Achaean leaders Agamemnon, Archilles and Odysseus and they started the Troyan War. They faught for 10 years to conquer Troy but without much
success.
By then Paris had died and Archilles was killed by Hector, the brother of Paris and the
greatest of all Troyan warriers. So Odysseus, who was always fond of Helen, thought
of a different strategy. He disguised himself and sneaked into the city of Troy at night
and found Helen in the Palace.
Since Helen was not keen to live with her new husband any more, she agreed to help Odysseus
to get into the city, if he would take her back to Greece. So she stole the sacred icon, a
small wooden horse, which was a precious idol of the city of Troy honoring the
Goddess Athena.
The Greek army vanished but left behind a huge wooden horse outside the walls of
Troy. The Troyan were upset about the loss of their stolen idol so they accepted the
gift of the Greeks even more easily and of course they took it inside the city walls
in order to have it safe and not to fall in disgrace with the Goddess Athena any
further…..
….and the rest is history….
…..according to the Iliad told by Homer.
Now class 12 is stealing themselves into your PC in their Troyan Horse.
Helen's palace...
and potentially the real palace wall....
